Our mission at the Thomas More Centre is to promote the enduring tradition of Christian intellectual, cultural, and contemplative thought. To this end, we are fostering open-minded and stimulating conversations about subjects that concern the human condition and the common good.
Because personal connection is important, we are establishing physical ‘hubs’ around Australia in which people can gather and learn. We are mindful, however, that many of you do not live within driving distance of these sites, and thus we have begun a
YouTube channel so those who cannot attend our in-person events can nevertheless benefit from hearing edifying conversations.
So far, the TMC channel has interviewed
Bug Hall, the Hollywood actor of
The Little Rascals fame who gave up his career to live a simple life on the land;
Alex Dee, the co-creator of the children’s audio drama
Saints Alive; and
Dr Larry Chapp, the founder and manager of the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker Farm in Harvey’s Lake, Pennsylvania.
Upcoming episodes feature
Professor Kees de Groot on the Catholic roots of
Tintin;
Daniel Mitsui, the acclaimed artist who in 2011 was commissioned by the Vatican to illustrate the 2012 Roman Pontifical; and
Alan Harrelson, a pipe-smoking enthusiast who specialises in the agrarian thought of the American South (for a preview of Alan, check out his delightful appearance on
Pints with Aquinas).
Of course, we are also keen to interview Australian guests, so if you have someone to recommend, please let us know at
admin@tmc.org.au.
Finally, since our channel is young and can only grow through exposure to a wider audience, we’d be grateful if you could subscribe to our channel, and like and share our content.
We hope that you enjoy the
TMC YouTube channel!
Kind regards,
Mark Makowiecki(on behalf of the Thomas More Centre team)
