TMC Perth events and free talk in Brisbane
 November 29, 2023

Events are in full swing at the Thomas More Centre around the country, just before the year comes to a close.

In Perth, a few young people joined NCC WA president and TMC youth officer for WA, Warwick D’Silva, in the office to talk about how to grow the TMC Hub, where they discussed writing, networking, functions and events.

TMC office staff also had a meeting with a leader from Catholic Youth Ministry in Perth about joint activities, to foster formation with university-aged people and young families.

On Friday, December 1, there will be a lunch for supporters with a testimony by one of our youth from Perth who helped pioneer the Democratic Club at Campion College – the venue our Democratic Conference will be held this coming February 2024.

What’s On - Free talk on The Life and Legacy of St Nicholas the Wonderworker

And in Brisbane, we are excited to announce that Dr Amelia Brown will be giving a free talk in the hall at Mary Immaculate Church, Annerley at 5.30pm for a 6pm start on Thursday, December 21.

She will discuss the life of St Nicholas and his legacy in charity, and among monks, young people and especially sailors in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. The talk will be academic in nature but families are welcome to attend.

Dr Brown is senior lecturer in Greek History and Language at the University of Queensland. Together with Dr Julian Barr, she is presently translating the Miracles of St Nicholas of Myra into English.

Drinks and light fare will be provided. Please RSVP here for catering purposes.

And more events to come in the new year as we continue our quest to foster “creative minorities” – watch this space!
